ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Looking like a journalist reporting from the scene of the crime, Governor Daniel Pruce stood in front of Aladdin Jewellery Store on Monday, February 12, 2024, to give a statement regarding the armed robbery committed there on Friday, February 9, 2024.

“I wanted to meet the people who were directly involved in what happened on Friday, the victims and the witnesses and to offer my support to them after what was clearly a very traumatic and upsetting situation.”

Governor Pruce reminded what he said at his recent Swearing-in Ceremony, that as governor security will be his “highest priority” and it is something that he will personally devote as much of his time and energy to, working closely with the police and other agencies responsible for law enforcement.

With that in mind, he said he had convened a meeting of the National Security Council for the same day and that the shooting incident at Cane Garden Bay would also be discussed.

“Meanwhile, I would ask everyone in the community to give their full support to the police as they take forward their investigations into these incidents in the days ahead.

‘Appalled’

Governor Pruce also stated on the Office of the Governor’s Facebook page that, “Like the rest of the community, I was appalled to hear about the armed robbery. My thoughts are with those who are affected by this shocking crime. The police are investigating and have my full support.”

The Governor also said there will be an increase in foot patrols in the Road Town area, an additional thirty police officers are projected over the next three to four months and there will be training on ports security.

No one was hurt in the robbery; however, many were reportedly left traumatised over the heist in broad daylight.

You should be glad he is starting out paying attention to crime. Why would you have a problem with this unless you are of criminal mind.

What have happened over the last few days have already became the norm in the BVI, as in reference to the Topic Issue. Even though this fact is ongoing, especially since the desastrious hurricane, namely Irma, most, if not all, of our present political local leaders continingto place their focus on the UK, the governor, the Chief of Police, independence now, money-costly pleasure entertainment events, random overseas trips with little profit, if any, Etc.,but not on their inability to help solve the spiking rise of serious crimes (the devil loose among us.)

Like was said by an earlier blogger, I quote: "Welcome to the BVI, governor, you got your work cut out for you."
May God, the Creator of this Universe grand you the needed knowledge, wisdom, courage, patient, strength, and vision to fulfill your assigned mission to help make the BVI a more comfortable place for all the people that regularly living here, family visitors, friends, and tourist, too.

Look at leadership. Today more beat cops are visible. Not tripping, not chasing t@!?, not spending money on parties but doing actual work, communicating, and making things happen. Bravo.

While the Governor and the U.K. are responsible for security the government brings the budget to the HOA who agree on and approve the allocation. No money no work let’s be real.

Just to have an illegal gun (10 years) each bullet 5 years. Regardless of how many bullets that’s the amount of years. This will be a straight forward sentence. Until a strong message is sent with few actual facing that time things will never change. It’s funny how many people actually are for the gully lifestyle.

The police stations don’t even have lookouts and we know many crimes including street racing happen in front the stations. Had there been a lookout at the station or cameras in cgb police station the police might have been witnesses. Legalize cannabis let us grow our own change the culture and get to searching for the guns.
