“I encourage anyone who has information on the events surrounding the death of Jason Potter to contact the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force as soon as possible,” Dr Wheatley stated at a press conference on August 8, 2022.
The Premier extended “deepest condolences” to the family of the late Potter Jr, adding that the deceased “is actually a cousin of mine, and I pray that God also gives his loved ones comfort as they grieve for their loss.”
“I condemn these acts of violence, which rob us of our peace, security, and loved ones,” Premier Wheatley said.
4 fatal shootings for 2022
The fatal shooting of 22-year-old Jason Potter Jr aka Thug brought to four the number of fatal shootings in the [British] Virgin Islands for 2022.
Jaquan Thomas was fatally shot in Little Apple Bay on January 30, Le’Shaughn A. Smith was shot dead at Huntums Ghut on February 24, and Corey Butler was fatally shot near Scatliffe Alley on June 21.
