‘I am ready!’- ‘Roxie’ Romney declares
She was speaking at the Bandstand in Road Town, Tortola last night May 21, 2015 as the Virgin Islands Party train continued to charge on.
“I have always been taught that to whom much is given much is expected. This is why I am here tonight. I stand here before you tonight to let you know I am ready,” she said.
VIP an easy choice
The prominent entrepreneur said the Virgin Islands Party was an easy choice for her as it is and always has been a party of inclusion. This is borne out by the diversity of the slate of candidates on the VIP ticket, many believe.
Romney refuses to listen to naysayers
Romney shrugged off statements that she is too business oriented to be suited for a representative of the people. “Some have said that I am too business oriented to be a servant to my country when I am ready now,” she said.
She said she has spent a lot of time listening to the people of the Fourth District. That is what I have been doing over the last few weeks and that is what I will continue to do throughout this campaign."
“I will not listen to the naysayers and I will certainly not listen to my opponent. I will listen to the people in this community,” she said.
Romney said that a handout today without the certainty of tomorrow is not what public service should be. She said that empowerment is what allows people to control their destiny.
The VIP has plans
Romney said that her vision for the Fourth District is to have a district that is properly kept, healthy and with adequate infrastructure. She said too that the Fourth District must be commercially driven to proudly reflect the capital of the Virgin Islands
She said that there is need for infrastructure upgrade as well as the construction of essential facilities in various locations. “The NDP will say that they have Peebles Hospital and Crafts Alive, but what about other places in Road Town such as Lower Estate, the Softball Field and Festival Grounds,” she asked.
She cited the very bandstand where the meeting was taking place was not complete and said that the VIP would be committed to finishing this project. She promised that the VIP would construct restroom facilities and enhance the playground area so that families can come out to visit. Romney said too that the VIP would finish the Queen Elizabeth Park, calling this one of the unfinished projects of the NDP.
She promised that her Government will pay attention to landmarks with a view to having them be used as tourist attractions and that Road Town will become a vibrant business centre.

You, Walters and Rajah will get the most licks in BVI Political History!
Mark has the 4th under control all right, or so he seems to believe! That is perhaps why he has not done anything Nada, Zippo! Although not much, Hon Archie Christian tried to clean up the town. Re-electing Vanterpool would be a nightmare. I for one don't want to live through that.
That is actually a private business dumping liquid waste in the £$%^ Ghut. That has nothing to do with government but rather a nasty business/individual who chose not properly dispose of their waste!!!!!
Less talk.
DWL !!
