‘I am NDP & not going anywhere!’ – Dr Kedrick D. Pickering
He was speaking during today’s December 15, 2014 sitting of the House of Assembly during the budget speeches.
“A lady pulled me aside and whispered in my ear and asked me a question: ‘Dr Pickering what is it I hear about you leaving the NDP to join the VIP because they offer you Premiership?’ and I answered her in the affirmative…absolute nonsense! And I want to say it publicly…whether it is people in my organization saying it or outside of my organization,” Dr Pickering said.
“Dr D. Orlando Smith and I have been working together since 1986 and we have been working together over the past 22 years on a daily basis. We went through some rough times in that operating room in the wee hours of the morning,” he said.
“Nobody can understand that [and for] people to use me and talk foolishness…” he said.
“I have the greatest of respect for the Leader of the Opposition [Hon Ralph T. O’Neal OBE (R9)] and people see my relationship with him and talk about I going to join the Virgin Islands Party?” he asked.
“Those who are perpetuating it and trying to cast aspersions on my character I want to say publicly, stop that foolishness. I ain’t going nowhere,” he said.
“When Dr Smith leaves this country and the Government appoints me acting Premier he could sleep wherever he is. I am an original member of this organization…I ain’t going nowhere. Ain’t nothing anybody could offer me. I want to make that clear and hope that this rumour dies down,” said Dr Pickering.
