‘I am guilty’ of not defending Gov’t for keeping VI safe- Patsy C. Lake
Ms Lake, appearing on the July 22, 2021, edition of the Honestly Speaking show hosted by Claude O. Skelton-Cline, said critics were allowed to thrive and have their say because others sat quietly and did nothing.
VI full of Fahie Gov't critics - Ms Lake
“We have got a country full of critics, experts, in criticising everything that in particular the government has done and is doing, and their voices are the loudest,” Ms Lake said.
“I want to blame myself too, because we sat down and we allow them to air their voices and to be so vocal and we said nothing in defense of the government or the way they were protecting us or anything, we just sat down and allowed them to have their say,” she further added.
Ms Lake hinted that God cannot be pleased and agreed evil is allowed to thrive when the good do nothing.
“I am one of the guilty ones who did noting, said noting, did nothing… when you playback the tape of the many critics when the Premier was begging let us protect health over wealth… and what the critics said? Oh He doesn’t know what he is doing, he doesn’t have a plan,” Lake reminisced.
Critics have no plan for situation now - Ms Lake
According to the local heroine, who alongside Noel Lloyd and others had their names etched in history for successfully organising the movement against the infamous Bates Hill Agreement, the critics are yet to provide a plan “they have all the plan, where is the plan now? Where the plan to protect us… they scream for the country to be opened… can we live with what is going on right now?” she questioned.
Ms Lake further said the Virgin Islands has been ungrateful to each other and the government and to God, which has resulted in the current predicament in the territory.
“We allowed the evil ones to get on and triumph over us and we sat and we said nothing,” she said, noting that maybe the VI is paying for the ungratefulness of its people.

How arrogant is that? So anyone who disagrees with the government is evil? Really?
And patsy Lake believes she is good? Hmm...
Why do you wear it as it's no guarantee you will get where you are going safely? Nothing is 100% but it reduces the risk of you dying. A set of Noah naysayers
Vaccination as the only solution is not a PLAN. A plan supposed to be a comprehensive plan to be considered a proper plan. Vaccination as part of the solution is a plan.
The Government had 2 years to plan for this and botched it! Simple. Carvin spend tens of millions well I would like to know where that money was spent?
We should have had treatments like monoclonal antibodies and the like now I hear Carvin talking about that. We should have paid for experts to come in to train and guide hospital staff. We should have trained auxiliary teams to back up staff should they get sick. All arrangements with the USVI should have been done earlier.
Then there was the decision to allow vaccinated persons to come in without testing and quarantine. That was done 15th June and three weeks late we saw what happened. Lack of enforcement and border surveillance was another issue. The quarantine tracking devices never worked, bars and nightclubs needed to be inspected regularly. They are offering the opportunity for some to go to St. Thomas for Pfizer and Moderna but why was that not done before? Add to that we need a national healthy lifestyle campaign and programs geared towards educating youngsters about the need for proper nutritious diet and exercise.
Let us face the fact that some will never vaccinate and I believe we should respect their choice of what they want to put in their bodies and also the fact that vaccines can be breached and people can get hospitalized and they can die.
We need a comprehensive plan.
The rise in cases and death was unavoidable. The lockdown and border closing on delayed this. Whether a person was vaccinated or not, the possibilities were there. Just look around you, it’s happening all around. While it looks like only unvaccinated persons are being affected there are high numbers of fully vaccinated testing positive. On Wednesday I read and update from the UK and they had 15000 fully vaccinated testing positive. One third of them hospitalized and of that number one fifth is in icu and about 500 this have been their second time since taking the jab. I say all this to show that everyone of us are affected by the virus. Beside following the protocol, we can also stop speaking evil of each other. We need to stop the name calling and outright wishing death on people. How do we expect the land to be heal when we hold such hatred for each other. Remember life and death hold on the power of tongue. I’m asking us to all stop it. I must confess that I’m guilty of a few and I apologize to everyone for this.
Finally, as a Christian community we must do better. God has promise he will heal the land if only we repents of our ways and return to him. Have a Blessed Day
The depth of the Vi's fall is evident.
