Huggins takes CAC Silver!

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Last evening Friday June 29, 2012, Nelda Huggins ran a Personal Best time of 11.83 seconds to finish 2nd in the 100m final at the CAC Junior Championships in El Salvador, San Salvador.

Her blistering run came on the back of a qualifying time of 11.91 seconds to finish second in her qualifying heat. The Gold Medal went to Bahamian Carmeisha Cox in a time of 11.70.

In earlier events at the Championships, Kala Penn finished 6th in the long jump with a leap of 5.02. The winner, Akela Jones of Barbados created a new CAC Jnr Record with her distance of 6.36.

Eldred Henry finished 6th in the shot put with a toss of 16.32 as Jamaica’s Ashinia Miller also set a new CAC Jnr.
record with his distance of 19.70. Henry also finished 4th in the Discus with a throw of 44.59. The winner was Frederick Dacres of Jamaica who set a new CAC Jnr. record with a distance of 59.99.

Jamal Alexander ran 10.72 in heat one of the boys 100m, but missed out on progressing to the finals with his fourth place finish, and Brandon Andrew finished 13th in the long jump with a leap of 5.40metres.

    all she needs now is to migrate to jamaica when she graduates high school to get some real traning and we will have the first gold medilist in one of the future olympics..i watched her compete in the youth carifta games and the jamaican juniors got nothing on this gifted youth..

    There goes another partial (island people decent) putting the BVI on the map. These days all i'm hearing is ingenious but really Huggins is not an ingenious title. Go girl, continue to shine
