Hon Wheatley: Social homes programme may ‘expand’ to include 1st-time homeowners
Since the inception of the Housing Recovery and Assistance Programme after Hurricane Irma, over 20 social homes have been built and over 200 homes have been repaired.
Commenting on his Facebook page following the visit, Hon Wheatley said his “intention is to expand the programme to include first-time homeowners, as I believe this would put more persons in their own homes.”
Minister pleased with ‘quality & pace of work’
Meanwhile, the latest three beneficiaries of the social homes Hon Wheatley visited are Mr Ted Rabsatt of Fat Hogs Bay, Mr Dalvin Callwood from Little Harbour, Jost van Dyke and Ms Cassandra Sutton from Sea Cows Bay.
According to Government Information Services (GIS), Mr Rabsatt received a rebuild grant while Ms Sutton and Mr Callwood are recipients of social homes.
The three houses are expected to be completed by next month when the Ministry will officially hand them over to the beneficiaries.
“Homes currently under construction, even as we prepare to begin a few more. I was particularly pleased with the quality and pace of work, some being built in less than 12 weeks,” Hon Wheatley remarked.

It doesn’t make sense to sell for any person, they will buy and rent or reselling the property, it’s easy to do business between “them.”
