Hon Turnbull accuses Hons Skelton & Penn of dishonesty
The Alliance officially went public during a press conference on January 30, 2025.
Leader of PVIM and Opposition Leader Hon Ronnie W. Skelton (AL) and Leader of NDP Hon Marlon A. Penn (R8) have since said they were unaware of the formation of this Alliance.
Discussions went on for almost 2 years- Hon Turnbull
Host of the Big Story on JTV Channel 55, Cathy O. Richards asked the men, who were her guests on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, if the formation of the Alliance was discussed with the Opposition party leaders.
Hon Turnbull replied, “It was indeed a discussion. It was a discussion that went on for almost two years on the PVIM side, and I know Hon Walwyn was doing it on the NDP side.”
He also accused the leaders of not taking any action and revealed that discussions among himself Hon Walwyn, and Hon Mather began sometime in September or October 2024 to explore the possibilities of coming together.
“Then we came around the table, and we had a discussion, and we made a decision to move this conversation forward,” he stated.

Hon Turnbull also accused the leaders of the opposition parties of not being honest in their comments.
“The chatter that you’re hearing of late, that the leaders have been talking all along is not a factual statement; they started to act since we decided to move,” he said.
Hon Turnbull then questioned why is it “such a hard thing” for the PVIM and NDP leaders to come on board with them as the three of them came together to do what the people have asked of them to do ahead of the next general election.
“Why is it now such a hard thing for you to come alongside us and knowing that these conversations were happening, knowing that you have been invited to not only start the merger or do the work to start the merger or even come to see what we’ve started to do?” Hon Turnbull added.

Hon Turnbull made another jab at Hon Skelton and Hon Penn by saying it seems they have taken a position on wanting to lead the formation of an opposition merger themselves.
“If we’re going to do this thing, we’re going to have to do it in a unified front not just for the sake of politics, but show genuine comradery…for us, the conversations started around October, but we’ve been asking our leaders to do this for about two years, and nothing was done. All of a sudden, movement is happening, and they are trying to mislead the people that they have been talking all along,” he stated.
Richards asked if they had received the blessing of their respective party leaders to engage in the discussions that ultimately led to the formation of this ‘Alliance’.
Hon Turnbull replied, “The blessings I need come from God; but it is almost suggestive that we need approval to do what leaders do…it was agreed upon [to] go ahead and start the conversations when it’s time for me you’ll let me know…but now its because we have gone now out…now there’s a pulling and a hauling of I didn’t know.”
He added that they need to be obedient to the cause and the voices of the people of the Virgin Islands, and founding members of both entities and supporters.
Leaders have to know when to follow- Hon Mather
Hon Mather, when asked his opinion, stated he was aware conversations were ongoing before the 2023 general election.
“I was not involved in those conversations, but PVIM members were having those conversations,” he said.
Hon Mather revealed that about three months following the 2023 elections he began having conversations with Hon Penn, Hon Turnbull, and Hon Skelton about a possible merger.
“Nothing came from it, and a leader also has to know when to follow. So we follow the people of the Virgin Islands and when the people say to us this is what they want,” Hon Mather said.

Lorna is politically damaged and begging to be seen and heard but in reality is all washed up! She will sing and dance a jig to get back on the BVI Treasury nipples. In hard financial and an uncertain this global even wicked Satan's angels stays unity for the cause of evil. Why can't deceitful minded Hon. Myron Walwyn, Hon. Mitch Turnbull, but wouldn't turn away from wrong behaviors, and the other Hon., the third backslide one, I unable at this time to remember his name, go and rejoined themselves to and understand,Hon. Ronnie Skelton, the true and legal (legitimate) opposition leader.
If they truly are desirous of the B.V.I citizens best interest, this they will do. It no shame to asked pardon for wrong done to others. It only proves that your words and you is united.
