Hon Shereen D. Flax-Charles (AL) to contest D9 with PVIM
Hon Flax-Charles, who announced her resignation from the VIP on February 12, 2023, was announced as a PVIM member at a press conference at the Hire BVI Conference Room in Fish Bay today, February 24, 2023.
It was also disclosed that Hon Flax-Charles will be contesting the Ninth District, which is currently represented by Hon Vincent O. Wheatley.
She said she decided to run for the Ninth District seat because the "overwhelming" call from persons on Virgin Gorda and Anegada has been for her to represent them.
Hon Flax-Charles also said she decided to join PVIM because its leadership of Mr Ronnie W. Skelton and Hon Melvin M. Turnbull exemplifies persons with a proven track record in their personal, professional and political life.
Noting that integrity matters, Hon Flax-Charles said she is excited for the journey ahead in rebuilding the Territory’s reputation and uplifting its people.
“I pledge to serve these Virgin Islands with all my heart with truth and integrity as my motto,” Hon Flax-Charles stated.

(The only surprising thing about the Beef Island study was the fact that the probability of damage to Hans Creek was mentioned at all. The fact that the government at the time ignored it is hardly surprising. Without the actions of the Virgin Islands Environmental Council and other residents, this would have been a done deal. And without high-powered legal help supplied pro bono from England, the legal challenge would have come to nothing.) Read more... https://www.bvibeacon.com/beef-island-project-criticised/
(The concept of five-star hotels was a major factor in the last election. The Beef Island project probably cost the National Democratic Party the Eighth District, and the development concept that was a part of the NDP’s political platform quite possibly cost the party heavily in all of the other districts.)
(Too often, high-budget projects in the Virgin Islands get planning approval based on environmental impact assessments that are quite possibly inherently faulted. There seems to be no question that the approval of the Beef Island project, proposed by one expatriate from Hong Kong named Hung, should not have occurred. The proposal included three real phases: a five-star hotel, a marina, some 600 residential units and a golf course. I will address these phases one at a time.)
(For once, the system seemed to have worked, and the public voice was heard and heeded.
Then came the legal eagles!
The appeal against the court ruling is not based on the environmental facts but rather on the apparent faults in the legislation...)

Maybe they have no other candidate for the 9th, and do not rate her chances very highly against Vincent. I very much doubt that Ronnie or Melvin would want to have her on their team if they are the next Government.
Politics is a dirty business.
It is mostly about personal power and not truly about the interest of our people(set ah waste
This upcoming political campaigns will be filled personal slander, name calling and hardly anything about the development of our people
be very careful if you go to those election poles in 2023: the place needs fixing because in 2023 and still driving on bad roads some of us can recall the days of dirt roads: 2023 and water problems some will recall the of going to the well:
we no longer need one party making up the administration of this country
From her days in the Tourist Board to now this lady cannot work with no one. She is always right and everyone else is wrong. She c****s everyone who does not see it her way and always looks for d**t on others to try to de***y them. She has not change and will not change. I am a female voter and I live in The Valley, Virgin Gorda and I am not a VIP fan but I will be voting for Vincent as I hope all in the 9th stay far far far away from this e**l confusion maker of a lady.
She also lied about her VIP paperwork when she could've just been honest and said she no longer wanted to run with them using her favourite bad marriage reference.
If you ask me that's terrible start if we starting about transparency and honesty
