ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Commentator Edmund G. Maduro believes that the election of Third District Representative Hon. Julian Fraser, RA as the new Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) on Thursday, May 28, 2014 was an act of God.

Speaking on the EGM radio show aired on ZROD FM on May 29, 2014, Maduro said, “What happened [on Thursday] I… personally believe it was an act of God in directing the hands of the VIP members.”

Hon. Fraser defeated his only challenger, First District Representative Hon. Andrew A. Fahie, in securing the post of Chairman of the party at the internal elections after previous Chairman and Leader of the Opposition Hon. Ralph T. O’Neal chose not to contest the post and also announced his retirement from politics.

Maduro also expressed the hope that the newly elected Chairman of the Party accept the directives of God that are given to him as he felt the country needs leadership and residents are suffering badly.

The host said he felt proud to hear that Hon. Fraser had requested during a recently held community meeting in his District that supporters offer a prayer for him and also called on youths to become more active in local politics noting that young people should not sit down.

The EGM radio show was co-hosted last night by Chevley D. Stoddard.

God never rewards blasphemy, so I can see NDP rolling away with the next election. That will teach you VIP bloggers that God is not to be trifled with. When you want to propagate and spread your nonsense on the blog, God will deal with you and all who support the nonsense. Never forget - there is a God, whether you believe it or not. Keep God out of crooked politics.

@Weed: I believe you meant to say "Frazer will be our man come next elections". The good book asks us to "Fear (i.e. reverence) God and give glory to Him". Humans are fallible beings, but the promises of the heavenly father are 'yea and amen' - they never fail. We all want things to get better and are entitled to vote for leaders who would prioritize the needs of the people. However, 'By their fruits you shall know them' ... so time will tell who God will allow to lead, and what fruits they will produce.
