Hon Fraser denies registering voters from outside his District
He was responding to a caller into Wednesday night's March 4, 2015 VIP Let's Talk aired on ZBVI 780 AM.
The caller alleged that persons from the VIP are registering persons in the Third District even though they were from the Sister Islands.
"I understand that you or your team are registering persons who are not from the Third District in that district. I have been reliably informed that young people from the Sister Islands are being coerced or tricked into registering in the Third District,” said the caller.
However, Honourable Fraser dismissed these accusations as false. “I don't think that is possible, because what has always happened is that the Supervisor of Elections, even now more than ever, is scrutinizing these applications for registration and I haven't got a clue as to what you are talking about when you say that, because I am not party to that.”
Moderator of the talk show Carvin Malone, the VIP’s President, jumped in at this point, saying that such behaviour is an offence.
“It is an election offence to register someone in the district that they are not entitled to be registered in, so we have to make sure. After 44 years, I think the rules are quite clear," he said.
