NANNY CAY, VI- As yacht charter company MarineMax Vacations celebrates 10 years of existence in the [British] Virgin Islands, it is being encouraged to consider making its long-standing senior-level manager and local- Clarence Malone- a partner in the company.

This challenge to the company was made by the territory’s most senior legislator Honourable Julian Fraser, RA (R3) while giving brief remarks at a ceremony to mark MarineMax Vacations’ 10-year anniversary of operating in the territory on January 27, 2022.

Mr Malone is the Director of Operations at MarineMax Vacations.

‘Empowerment’

“It’s a way of empowering our people. The best way to empower people is to bring them along, he has certainly come along and there would be more Clarence Malone if Clarence is treated in a way that others can emulate, or wish to emulate and proud of, I am certainly proud of him,” Hon Fraser said.

Hon Fraser also commended MarineMax Vacations for their service to the territory and for persisting in business here.

He said the first 10 years might have been difficult to do business but “from here on it supposed to be smooth sailing…So it is true that we have the greatest sailing waters in the world … and there is no questioning as to our hospitality here in the Virgin Islands. I am sure that you must have met Nanny Cay to be inviting and quite a place to do business.”

From 13 vessels to 50!

MarineMax Vacations, which utilises sections of the new docks at Nanny Cay, is celebrating its 10th anniversary under the theme, “Celebrating a decade of vacations, a lifetime of memories”.

MarineMax Vacations was formed in 2012 with an initial fleet of 13 sailboats in the [British] Virgin Islands. It now has over 50 power catamarans.

MarineMax Vacations was twice voted the number one charter company in the VI.

nothing to do with colour ......if you want to become a partner in a company and own shares in it you have to invest...Unless the company chooses to reward employees with shares. Hon Fraser can challenge them all he wants....but he cant pressure them into doing this. He pushes foe us to be in key positions..and Malone is i the top spot. push too hard and companies will shy away from placing us in key positions if they feel the next step will be being forced to give away shares in the company. done forget..the company invested without any help locally and continues to invest in the company..ever expanding...... Hon fraser already on the campaign trail....needs to retire

if the moorings was paying their staff reasonably or if they was treating their staff good, the would be in a better position to win as being the number one charter company in the vi. but all they do is take away staff privileges. not even a staff party we can get, after slaving soo hardd...hard.... help us God. lol

That is all he have to do is buy in shares. Maybe he doesn’t want to and is comfortable with his position.

It is nice for Mr. Fraser to talk like that . Ask the company to make Mr. Malone a partner but the question is . Do Mr. Malone have enough money to buy any shares or even buy one boat? Mr Fraser is in politics for over 22 years right as 3rd district rep. Why he doesn't decide to allow a youngster to emerge? How many youths he trained to take over from him? None. Stop the gimmick Honourable.

so a company thathas paid this gentlman for his work and who kept him employed through Irma and Covid now Fraser wants him made a partner? This company is not a law or trust company, they do not run on paperwork they have a multi million dollar fleet so a partner he can never be , now stocks he could be gifted buti am sure he makes plenty of money for himself and the company and this comment probably made him feel awkward.

MarineMax has well over 50 power catamarans in their worldwide fleet but only 20 or so are actually based in the BVI now. MM powercats were extensively damaged in Irma and replaced. By 2019 MM had 40-45 powercats in the BVI but many of those left in 2020 during the pandemic and did not return. In 2022 MM is only slightly larger than its 13 sailboat fleet in 2012.

If one were there Fraser immediately followed up his request for Malone's partnership with "he may already be a partner, I don't know." Next time maybe don't accept the invitation for off the uff remarks

MM took CM with them from the moorings when they started. I would guess he is paid handsomely for his influence.
