Hon. Fahie says he gets no respect from current administration
Hon. Fahie stated that as much as he is not a Government Minister, he was elected as District Representative for the people of the first District, and “respect must be maintained at all levels.”
“I must say I am stunned by the disrespectful manner the current administration is dealing with me as the First District representative. There is only one Minister of Government thus far that deals with me as a District rep. with respect I fully understand that the new Administration has been given the mandate by the people through the democratic process to forward their agenda, but the people of the first district also elected me, with God’s grace and guidance, through the democratic process. As a result despite our differences in political philosophies, methodologies among others, we as elected officials must maintain respect at all levels, especially in relation to each other.”
Hon. Fahie furthered by saying “During my tenure as Minister I always respect all elected representatives especially the district representatives when attempting to do anything in their district. I did it with their input and involvement, whether they were on my political party’s side or not. As a matter of fact, that was the mode of operating for all Ministers in the last VIP administration.”
In light of this, He stated that he continues to write Government Ministers on behalf of the people of his designated district, and added that he do so without getting a response of any kind, from most of them.
“I continue to ask about matters that are [of] concern to my district, but the responses when given, leave a lot to be desired from most Ministers. However, I will continue to respect the current administration and I will continue with God’s help to represent my people of the first district with a passion to move us all from good to great.”
Their part, My part
In regards to works being done in District #1 and the lack of responses coming from current government officials pertaining to projects, Hon. Fahie said that he will continue to do his part and they should do theirs.
In accordance to the listings of projects to be covered by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) loan, he stated that there were a few projects for the First District.
“I don’t remember all of them, but notwithstanding I do remember the Fortune Ghut Road and surrounding area in Carrot Bay was one. The old road at Cox Heath that ends at Rawleigh Well at Towers, West End was another, just to name a few.”
Hon. Fahie told this news site that whether or not the current administration will put the projects for the First District that make up part of the original list of the projects for the CDB loan, is left to be seen.
He said that despite whatever decision they might make “I will do my duties as First District Representative and follow up through different means. If they are not done it would not be from my lacking of pushing to get them done for the people of the first district.”
He stated that he will continue to do his part, and they do theirs.
In conclusion, Hon. Fahie expressed that his greatest concern is the effects that the protocol for Effective Financial Management that the Premier D. Orlando Smith, signed on April 23, 2012, will have on life in the entire territory, from this time forth.
“The people’s input should have been sought. I am for transparency and accountability, but this territory has matured to be able to effectively look over its own affairs with timely inspections from the UK, but within the interest of the people.”
He added that the signing of the document in the form that it is, is tantamount to bringing a famine on the land.

My my my, how the tables have turned! Granny always say, never burn your bridges behind you!
The world is round ~ and what goes around comes around. Shortsightedness is not something ANY politician should embrace. We are all voters. We will remember this too!
so much for open and transparent government. when people asked you about development at Carrot Bay you said it was a "done Deal". No one even knew what was being planned except by the few for a few! Same with moving the ferry dock from the intended spot in front of the police station- yet "your" park got built. You were all for the huge new ferry dock but then cried lack of transparency on the stump. you skip public meetings. Can't have it both ways. Now everyone holding their breath on plans for Smugglers Cove "development" by TCPD and NPT. Keep that simple and natural.
I dare say your days are numbered.
I voted for Andrew since Lavity died ~ until this past election. When he decided that the opinions of anyone over 50 no longer mattered, he stopped mattering to me and the rest of the adults in my family! That said, he is our representative and deserves respect from the opposition as he (currently) represents the majority of the voters in the first district.
I will not deny that Andrew has contributed in the past, but in recent years, he went off track in my opinion. He certainly could have done better. The educational system was largely ignored, the schools left in a mess and the quality of education has not kept pace with internationally competitive levels. There is no denying that Mr. Walwyn is doing good things for the educational system, but I really dislike his heavy handed ways of getting things done. He has a lot to learn if he plans to be re-elected.
But if the residents of the first district are not given their slice of the taxpayer's pie, the voters of the first will certainly remember that come 2015. I will not vote for Andrew if he insists upon supporting a race track while continuing to ignore the opinions of voters over the age of 50. If our votes are of no importance to him in the race track matter, then they are of no importance to him at all!
Politicians looking for support from their constituents do not get to discriminate against us for ANY reason and ageism is a very ugly thing!
No government gets to discriminate against entire districts for ANY reason either. Andrew is our representative and the NDP had better pay attention to him and the first district or expect to feel the repercussions in the next election. The at large candidates should all keep that in mind!
Now do you get where I was coming from Mr. To Confucius?
yuh lie!! Because Juggy was on ayo side and he couldn't get nothing from ayo for the 5th district. Ayo didn't respect ayo own, so how now you gonna come on here talking bout das how VIP ran their government (respecting each other???) Strrruppes, pleeeeease
go sit dung! There is work going on in the district. you just vex that you have no control on the issuance of contracts and know when treasury checks are ready for contractors so you could extort your commission. Let the Government of the day do their work.
Evil man cannot last as the BVI is a bless place. Just leave them to themselves Fahie god is still the King of Kings…he still give bread
By the way Mr. Fahie also stated, "but the people of the first district also elected me, with God’s grace and guidance, through the democratic process" If you truly were elected by God's grace and guidance what are you stressed about? Leave it in the hands of God. Time will tell.
And next election NDP is history.
