Hon Archibald C. Christian apologises to those he offended
This came from the National Democratic Party (NDP) Territorial At Large candidate Honourable Archibald C. Christian at a time when his colleges of the NDP have been taking full swings at the Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Honourable Julian Fraser, RA who shortly after being elected to the position in his party asked not to be judged by his past.
“Now what they going say to that, they don’t want we forgive Julian Fraser and he come now apologising for offending we, is the same thing. All make mistakes and a man 5, 6 years ago is a wiser man now,” one woman standing in the background was overheard saying.
Her colleague also chimed in saying, “Tell we it is ok to forgive Fraser and we going forgive you too. These people in politics two-headed man.”
But while the background comments continued throughout the session of the launch of the NDP’s At-Large candidates on Saturday May 16, 2015 at Sir Olva Georges Plaza in Road Town, Hon Christian continued with his address to the greater audience as he said the notion and perception that politicians the world over are not trustworthy is most unfortunate. “But tonight I stand here to tell you that I will be truthful, and I will deliver to you in my dealings at all times.”
He further said, “There were instances when I encouraged everyone to put aside their party differences and pleaded with all to work with us in the best interest of our country, and this I will continue to do.”
According to Christian, while he may not have made the headlines or breaking news as often as some of his colleagues, no one can dispute the fact that he did work hard.
Contributed to debates in HoA
Speaking to some of his works on behalf of the people of the territory, Hon Christian said he contributed extensively in the House of Assembly by debating just about every Bill and Motions’ brought before the House of Assembly, including those that were aimed at strengthening the territory’s finance and tourism industries, protecting the environment, and reducing crime.
“With the passage of the BVI Electricity Amendment Act of 2015, which now allows for persons to provide other sources of alternative energy, I will be advocating for alternative sources of energy – be it solar or wind, to provide electricity so that you can finally get reduced cost on your electricity bill.”
He said once given the opportunity he would work even harder over the next four years to ensure that he gives the best representation as an At-Large candidate without a portfolio.
