HoA resumes today with 'Questions & Answers' segment

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The House of Assembly (HoA) resumes today, Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 10 AM for the Second Sitting of the Second Session of the Fifth HoA of the Virgin Islands (VI).

The sitting, which commenced on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, was opposed by members of the newly formed political 'Alliance' who moved a motion for it to be suspended for a breach of the Standing Orders.

Not enough notice for HoA

Opposition Members Hon Melvin M. Turnbull (R2) and Hon Myron V. Walwyn (R6) challenged the entire proceedings, arguing that the government had failed to adhere to the mandated 10-day notice period.

After a number of recesses, and even the Speaker ruling that the Sitting would have to be suspended, a consensus was reached after the Opposition Leader was called into the fray.

As part of the compromise, the Questions and Answers were brought up the Order Paper for today, after which would be Statements by Ministers.

The sitting will be aired LIVE on House of Assembly VI Youtube; House of Assembly of the Virgin Islands Facebook; 780 AM ZBVI Radio; CBN-Radio (90.9 FM); FLOW TV Channel 101; and CCT TV Channel 291.
