HoA continues today, March 31, 2025; No voting in of new Deputy Speaker

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Legislators in the Virgin Islands will return to the House of Assembly (HoA) today, Monday, March 31, 2025, for the continuation of the Third Sitting of the Second Session of the Fifth House of Assembly.

Legislators last met in the HoA on March 24, 2025, when the last order of the day was the debating and passing of the Tobacco Products Control (Amendment) Bill, 2025.

Meanwhile, the public was anticipating the voting-in of Dr the Hon Karl Dawson (R1) as the new Deputy Speaker; however, this will not be done today, according to reports reaching our News Centre.

Opposition Member Hon Stacy R. Mather (AL) will continue to hold on to the title for a little longer.

The HoA is scheduled to meet at 1:00 PM at the House of Assembly Chambers in Road Town, Tortola.

The sitting will be aired LIVE on House of Assembly VI Youtube, House of Assembly of the Virgin Islands Facebook; 780 AM ZBVI Radio; CBN-Radio (90.9 FM); FLOW TV Channel 101; and CCT TV Channel 291.

    Go and Tell Hon. Dawson it is TIME to dedicate his ENTIRE FOCUS to the good people of District 1. Tell the Premier you SHALL NOT take the position of Deputy Speaker. Accept and we will all know, Tis just about POWER! Go and Focussssss!!!

    This means the Premier is making headway with his new posts and Karl will be given a Minister of State post which means he cannot be appointed as Deputy Speaker.
