ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Being the long accredited cancer society in the Caribbean HIMA is re-sounding their commitment to help in whatever ways possible to assist persons in the fight against cancer. Their most recent beat has come through the local officer in the Virgin Islands (VI) Mr Damion C. Grange.

Speaking at an informal setting recently it was brought to light some of the challenges the average person fighting the dreaded disease experiences when it was learnt that HIMA does have a local officer in the person of Mr Grange.

What came as a surprise to at least one person struggling to beat the disease was the fact that there is more help available that they would have known and Mr Grange intervened. This did not pass the ears of this news site as those were outlined.

Mr Grange said that HIMA does all types of specialty services including Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Interventional Radiology, Surgical care just to mention a few.

“We do oncology, we do neuro-oncology and that is brain cancer and we use the latest technology. We can use our laser technology to pin point the very cells and eliminate those cells. We do pediatric oncology and that’s specialising in pediatric cancers and stuff like that,” he explained.

He said it’s no strange thing with HIMA in partnering with the closest centre to the VI to ensure that patients coming from the VI get maximum care. “We have partnered with the Hoops Lodge in Puerto Rico and that is where patients from the Territory can stay free of cost if they need to be there for an extended period,” said Grange

He further explained that what HIMA has also done that will benefit persons from the VI and further into the Caribbean Region is that if one is staying at a Hotel in Puerto Rico and not the Hoops Lodge that patient can benefit from the HEMA rates. “So you wouldn’t pay full price including Seaborne Airline, you can also get a HIMA rate with Seaborne Airline and that would include no penalty in the event of cancellation and all of that,” said Mr Grange.

According to Mr Grange, once a HIMA patient travels HIMA concierge service meets patients at the airport and takes that patient to and from treatment. “These are things we need persons to know and that’s why I am committed to this job, daily I hear of the struggles of persons and while we respect each persons’ right to privacy sometimes unless a word is uttered you wouldn’t know where to go,” he said.

Mr Grange has already reached out on behalf of HIMA to the BVI Cancer Society (BVICS) through its President Ms Gloria A. Fahie who has expressed much interest in strengthening the partnership with HIMA. She told this news site that every bit of help or intervention when it comes to dealing with persons affected by cancer will be explored at its maximum.

“I will be working closely with Mr Grange to learn more about HIMA. I am aware of some things but there is much more that we don’t know and will have to know because it’s important that we tap in on every available resource that is available out there,” said Fahie.

Does it matter if Camiane Damian Christopher Grange is a BVIslander or not? He has lived here for the past 12 - 14 years and has contributed well to this country. Does it matter if he knows L S the wife of L M N O P? What does that have to do with HIMA PR identifying him as their candidate for a job that they had vacant? Please check the facts. The last person that HIMA hired to do this job was A "White" Puerto Rican. Not a soul made a sound. We are too hypocritical man. At least Damian black like we!!! Boy Damian Go On and do the job the people from PR hired you to do. HIMA Liason, Head!!!

To the blue belly rats, (they) $ know who they are. If you are coming to these islands to help me you are wasting your time, but if your freedom is bound do up with mine let's see if we can work together.

Damion is qualified for his job I supposed, but HIMA is a mother shut your mouth business. Check them for your collective selves.

Hey you know what will help ease with cancer? MAINTAIN A PROPER DIET! YOU DONT HAVE TO BE A GYM RAT BUT A DAILY ROUTINE OF SOME ECXERCISE WILL HELP! STOP EATING PANCHIES AND DAREO AND THE OTHER CRAP ON A DAILY BASIS LIKE ITS A VEGETARIAN DISH! DRINK MORE WATER THAN JUICE, ALCOHOL ETC. STOP SMOKING PERIOD! MOST IMPORTANTLY STOP STRESSING AND WORRYING SO MUCH ESPECIALLY ABOUT THINKS YOU CAN'T CONTROL! LEAVE IT TO A HIGHER BEING!
