ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The Virgin Islands can expect passing showers today with daytime high temperatures will be in the mid to upper 80s, the wind will be moderate and from the east according to local weather forecasts.

It said that across the local waters, seas are expected to build up to 7 feet today and across the local Atlantic waters and passages with winds coming from the east at 10 to 15 knots.

"For tonight, the local seas are expected to increase up to 8 feet, but mainly across the local Atlantic waters. This is due to a northerly swell that will be invading the local waters today and linger through the weekend," the release noted.

A caution may be issued for Small Craft later this evening as there is a moderate risk of rip currents across most of the beaches with high Surf Advisory currently in effect.
