Henry sets new National Shot Put Record
On Saturday, May 25, 2019, Henry rewrote the Virgin Islands’ record books for the Shot Put while competing in the 2019 NCAA DII Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Kingsville, Texas.
Henry threw 21.47m to break the Meet Record, established a new VI National Record, secured a World Championships qualifier, Olympic Qualifier, established a New OECS Record and a New #10 World Ranking on the IAAF world leading list.
The VIslander’s NCAA Division II Championships Shot Put Series was the best of his career and included 20.62m, 21.47 and 20.39, which earned him NCAA Division II All American Honours.
Samuel Reid of Adams State University was second with a best heave of 19.58m while Richard Cervantes of Texas A&M University-Kingsville was third with a best throw of 18.71m.
Henry also held the previous National Shot Put Record of 20.63, recorded at the NACAC Championships in Toronto, Canada on August 10, 2018.
The IAAF World Number 10 in Shot Put, Henry, is also the national record holder for the Discus (61.90m), Weight throw (18.32m) and Hammer throw (47.48m).
