Heavy showers, minor flooding predicted for VI today August 29, 2018
According to a public statement issued by the Department of Disaster Management (DDM), “an active tropical wave is affecting the area and could result in moderate to heavy showers at times, hence minor flooding could occur.”
The weather condition to be experienced by the VI during the course of the day, as adumbrated by DDM is, “generally cloudy with periodic showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms.”
Meanwhile, weather conditions for the Territory tonight is predicted to be, “generally cloudy skies, with showers and a moderate chance of thunderstorms mainly overnight.”
According to DDM, wind speeds will range between 19 to 33 km/h or 10 to 18 knots with higher gusts during showers.
Sea-farers are also warned that the VI seas can expect to see significant wave heights of 1.5 to 2.1 metres or five to seven feet.
DDM has also advised that a small craft advisory is in effect for the coastal waters on the Atlantic side of the islands.
