DUFF’S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI –The participating teams in the 2017 Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed National Basketball League made their selections from the Draft Picks last night, Monday July 31, 2017 at the Save the Seed Energy Centre Conference Room in Duff’s Bottom.

The Teams had already met to determine which team would get what number pick via drawn number raffle, with the reigning Champions, the Splash Brothers allowed to keep Steve E. Parillon, giving the Warrias first choice and Team Representative, Angel Baronville had no hesitation in snapping up the big man Juan R. Hatchett.

Ray D. Victor, formerly of West Gunners, went to Pure Playaz as the number 2 pick and Young Empire, who are a group of young players needing a shining light to assist them on court, chose Cedric D. King.

The Bayside Blazers managed to have Killven M. Samuel available for their turn and duly snapped up the free scoring player to bolster their squad and Da 3rd were able to choose Phillip E. Glasgow, a true leader on court.

JoVaughn N. Cameron joined Momentum and the Knights selected Sean "Chino" Woods whilst Travis A. “Chucky” Isaac went to Next.

We Dem Boyz yet to pick

We Dem Boyz is yet to make a final decision and have a choice of Nathaniel J. Malone and Kameron G. Young.

The organising Committee will then decide who, if anyone, would be allowed to have the remaining Draft Pick Player, based on needs and Teams still have the opportunity to trade amongst themselves, whilst Rosters must be fixed two weeks into the competition.

A Draft Pick player is now regarded as purely a team member, so if they decide not to play during the season, they will be treated as such and only in exceptional circumstances would the team involved be able to replace them, once the final rosters are submitted, according to League Chairperson Kharid T. Fraser.

Action gets underway on August 19, 2017 at the Save the Seed Gym, with the schedule to be announced shortly.

At the opening ceremony on August 19, current Champion team Splash Brothers will be awarded rings.
