Harneys announces additional firm promotions for 2023

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Harneys has announced the promotion of 65 of its people globally. The promotions include seven directors, eleven senior associates, two associate directors, and two associates. These promotions are in addition to the four new partners and six new counsel following the firm’s annual senior legal promotions in January 2023.

Harneys Fiduciary has promoted Theodoros Assiotis, based in Cyprus, to Director and Head of Accounting Services; Virginia Choy, based in Shanghai, to Business Development Director, Katie Claxton, based in the VI, to Fiduciary Services Support – Director; Russell Drewe, based in Cayman, to Associate Director, Rodrigo Loureiro, based in São Paulo, to Director; Jeff Ng, based in Hong Kong, to Business Development Director; William Peguero, based in Cayman, to Associate Director; and Darren Wain, based in London, to IT Program Director. In the firm’s Marketing and Business Development department, Kate Mullan, based in the BVI, has been promoted to Director - Marketing & Communications; and in the firm’s Finance department, Damien Lonergan, based in Cayman, has been promoted to Head of Financial Planning & Analysis.

The law firm’s eleven new senior associates are: Marissa Christodoulidou (Corporate | Cyprus); Paul Ebanks (Investment Funds | Cayman); Kaneesa Ebanks-Wilson (Transactional | Cayman); Sanjev Guna (Litigation, Insolvency & Restructuring | Hong Kong); James Kitching (Corporate | VI); Elaine McGriele (Litigation, Insolvency & Restructuring | Cayman); André McKenzie (Litigation, Insolvency & Restructuring | VI); Anna Tam (Litigation, Insolvency & Restructuring | Singapore); Catie Wang (Litigation & Insolvency | Cayman); Cherrie Wong (Investment Funds & Corporate | Hong Kong); Rhiannon Zanetic (Litigation, Insolvency & Restructuring | Cayman).

Other law firm promotions include: Laura de Heer (Senior Professional Support Lawyer | Hong Kong); Yifan Li (Associate | Shanghai); and Katrine Yang (Associate | Hong Kong).

The appointments of Russell Drewe, Damien Lonergan, Elaine McGriele, Catie Wang, and Rhiannon Zanetic are pending approval by Cayman immigration authorities. The appointments of James Kitching, André McKenzie, and Kate Mullan are pending approval by VI immigration authorities.

      You do realise that there are only 3 BVI based promotions listed? Did you happen to see the announcement previously about the senior promotions which included BVIslanders being promoted to Partner? Or are you just conveniently ignoring that fact?

        Only one BVIslander was promoted to partner and everyone knows that was long overdue. She’s been there forever.

          What’s your definition of local? She is from Jamaica, like 90% of the black lawyers at that firm. But yes, after all these years they finally saw it fit to promote her.
