ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- ‘EXIT WOUND’ by Hakeem Gravesande won the top prize, the Rhodni A. Skelton Award/Best Film, of the 2024 284 Excellence Film Competition put on by the BVI Tourist Board and Film Commission.

The finals of the competition took place on Saturday, November 2, 2024, in Cinema 1 at UPs Cineplex in Road Town.

Gravesande, who received a cash prize of five thousand dollars for Best Film, also walked away with the prize for Best Editing.

Other winners

Dominic Stefan Mathavious took second place, winning the prizes for Best Music Video and Best Cinematography.

Best Actor went to Khalarni Rivers, Best Actress Kassidy Chalwell, Best Soundtrack Khalarni Rivers and Nyaila Callwood, Best Directing Mar Javierto, Best Screenplay Mar Javierto, Best Documentary Mar Javierto, and Fan Favourite Dwayne Vanterpool.

Six finalists were chosen from 10 films submitted for this year’s film competition.

The six films were submitted to the competition’s international judges who were a film commissioner from Pennsylvania, a Netflix Manager, VIslanders and Hollywood actors Sheldon A. Frett and Sophia MA Emberson-Bain and an audio engineer.
