PASEA ESTATE, Tortola, VI- "I can bless a few persons for Christmas now," were the elated words of Sophia A. Barriffe after winning the grand prize of RiteWay Food Markets' ‘December to Remember’ promotion minutes ago, December 24, 2019.

To enter the promotion, customers had to spend $50 or more at RiteWay or purchase 6 items from certain brands of products at the shopping centre.

Barriffe, a resident of Lower Estate, Tortola, was at work when she received the exciting news that she had won the $10,000 shopping voucher.

The hairdresser cut no style in making her way down to RiteWay Food Markets at Pasea Estate to collect her prize.

'I can bless a few people'

“I was shopping here every week in this month and this morning I said I am not shopping anymore and I ended up going in RiteWay Food Markets and I still shopped again.”

Barriffe said every week she purchased enough to qualify her to enter the competition with the exception of the final day of the promotion.

“The funny thing is this morning I didn’t get to put anything in the bin because my bill was $49 and change and I was like I needed something for a few cents.”

The elated winner said after her shopping today she was about to head home when she remembered she had promised a friend she would "do his hair" and it was as she was doing so she received the call. Elated for her, the friend accompanied her to RiteWay Food Markets.

While Barriffe plans to stretch out the voucher over time, she also looks forward to blessing a few persons.

“There are so many things I wanted to do this Christmas, like get gifts for friends and family but this year, after the 2017 hurricanes, we are now settling down and we are trying to rebuild a few things so we didn’t plan on spending, or splurging, but this now is wonderful. I can bless a few people and that I am thankful for."

Meanwhile, five others won $100 gift certificates at the final prize drawing.

BLACK on BLACK. However, I dont think that you can tax a food voucher. I am happy for her. She worked for me, many years ago.

The money you spent shopping every week in the past, try and save at least half of it. One never knows ... Also, make sure you stock up for another year out of that voucher. Good to know that you will help others.
