Two children were allegedly poisoned to death by their mother at their Perth, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara Guyana home.

They are one year old Jabarie Cadogan and his four year old sister Odaceia Cadogan. The boy died at the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital and the girl succcumbed at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.

Their mother, Awena Rutherford, was alive and was being treated for poisoning that she allegedly ingested in a bid to commit suicide.

She  had  Thursday afternoon  collected the children from their aunt at Anns Grove, East Coast Demerara. Her parting words were that she had a surprise for her sister and so she would not say what it was.

Some time after, the sister at Anns Grove said she received a call that she should go to the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital. There, the boy already passed away.

Demerara Waves Online News was told that Awena Rutherford might have become frustrated due to strained relations with her the children’s New York-based father, Jabarie Cadogan Snr.  The woman had said that no one else could take care of her children and she preferred to die along with them.

Cadogan Snr. was only recently preparing to send a box of items for his children. Now, he is about to fly to Guyana to find out exactly what went wrong with the children he loved very much.

This is so sad innocent children a mother allegedly kills. They have to sort out what really happened. If guilty the mother must get a just punishment.

Lord God......have mercy on their souls as you receive your children unto you. Suffer the little children to come unto you oh Lord my strength and my redeemer. Whatever her state of mind Lord we ask that you intervene. It is not our place to judge Lord but that we help sinners to your feet so even now Lord we ask that she will bow before you and lay her burdens their and that you will order her steps father.

In thy name this is my prayer.

    Amen

I could never understand some of the things we women do. You want to tell me there was nothing that she could have done to take care of her children without the father's help? Ain't no man on earth, especially a man who don't give a damn could get me to harm my children. We all get frustrated yes but we have to find some way to cope. Best she had leave the children with the aunt and kill her damn self. I hope she lives and have to live with what she has done to them.
