The dorm fire at the Mahdia Secondary School in Guyana has claimed its 20th life.

 

Sherana Daniels, 13, has died.

She was hospitalised following the dormitory fire that claimed the lives of 19 students.

In announcing the tragic news, Guyana's President Mohamed Irfaan Ali expressed heartfelt condolences to the parents, relatives, and students.

"Sherana is the 20th victim of this tragedy. We pray that her loved ones are granted strength and courage during this difficult period. My government and all of Guyana continue to keep you in our prayers. Rest in peace and rise in glory Sherana!" he wrote on Facebook.

A secondary school girl in Guyana who allegedly set the dormitory of the Mahdia Secondary School ablaze last Saturday is expected to appear in court on 19 murder charges.

Priya Manickchand, Guyana’s Minister of Education, has named the other victims as Tracil Thomas, Lisa Roberts, Delecia Edwards, Lorita Williams, Natalie Bellarmine, Arriana Edwards, Cleoma Simon, Subrina John, Martha Dandrade, Loreen Evans, Belnisa Evans, Mary Dandrade, Omerfia Edwin, Nickleen Robinson, Sherena Daniels, Eulander Carter, Andrea Roberts and Rita Jeffrey.

    So many tears for all of the victims of this horrific act of hate and anger. Condolences to everyone affected by this tragedy. The person who did this MUST be dealt with to the maximum.

    Rip little ones.. I am still wondering how did the one child who cause this walk away from the incident unhurt??
