Gunman makes off with One Mart's cash

The incident allegedly occurred when the staff member hopped out of a vehicle at First Caribbean International Bank to do a night deposit when out of nowhere a person believed to be a male who was brandishing a hand gun accosted him. Photo: Internet source
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Informed and reliable sources close to the management of One Mart Supa Store have confirmed that a staff was robbed at gunpoint on Friday November 21, 2014 while attempting to make a night deposit.

The incident allegedly occurred when the staff member hopped out of a vehicle at CIBC First Caribbean International Bank to do a night deposit when out of nowhere a person believed to be a male who was brandishing a hand gun accosted him.

The gun-toting individual allegedly relieved the employee of the package of money and made good an escape, according to sources.

"We are pretty sure that person would be caught because there are many cameras around," said our source who asked not to be named and declined to divulge further information as they said they do not want to compromise the investigations.

This news site is awaiting further confirmation from the Public Relations Department of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF).

Magistrate Fine-him John, do you see now why he have to get the guns off the streets and why your ridiculoisly assine sentences arent helping? $2000.00 for gun posession is almost a big a joke as you are trying to be. Sentence these criminals sensibly.

NDP - maybe now that one of yours has been robbed, you will get up off your duffs and stop stuffing your pockets long enough to pass the gun legislation you promised us three years ago.

We hae to be the most stupid electorate out there to continually vote in both of these sets of clowns (NDP & VIP) - who promise the moon and give you less than dirt. And then when election rolls around more big talk and paved streets.

Do you think its a coincedence that road paving machines and an asphalt plant arrived now??? Let the road paving begin next year to continue to fool us dummies - you read it here first!

No gun sentence or gun law will get guns off the street. stop sounding foolish. No where has tougher gun sentences than London but yet still their streets are loaded with guns. Same as in the USA.

You want to get guns off the street? start by closing our borders! We don't make guns here...they are smuggled in. tighten up on our borders first.

then the police needs to do their jobs and start raiding known spots regularly.

Continue with the gun amnesty promotions as well as paying for guns that turned in.

Words on a piece of paper will do nothing!

'Words on a piece of paper will do nothing!" - No smarter words have ever been uttered, starting with the words on your diploma

Close the border? Take a look around moron, we are 60 islands surrounded by ocean. How exactly do you close the borders to get them locked tight to prevent the guns entering , especially when we are the sailing capital of the caribbean. fRankly I rather get the people who use the guns off the street and that isnt coming from the Coast guard. USVI has the US coast guard defending their borders and look at how many guns they have their genius.

If the guns come in, which they will if the person is inspired, they should be looked up and dealt with severely. Up to you we will have our borders tight as a drum with no gun law and still have robberies and shootings.

          Wake up dumbo

Why on earth would a big business like this not have Police protection when making their deposits? That is just common sense. I notice when Rite Way in making the ATM deliveries and pickups, the street is blocked off with security vehicles and the Officers are at attention. I would NEVER put my life in danger making deposits alone. All businesses should ask for police presence when doing this. It is our right to get this service so you all better use it and stay alive.

I actually did read over my sentence. And I don't spell in codes... I spell the way it's actually spelt...... LOL. Oops, actually, there's a code for ya. LOL actually means something though, but spelling a word incorrectly makes no sense. Try writing a report in the real world in "codes" and see how far it gets you bud. Like I said, I feel sorry for you all. Society is going down hill fast.

maybe you should teach your children to get off their a$$es and apply to different organisations/companies and stop depending on people to come ask them if they want a job. then they will have jobs. e.g. the hospital should be opening in a few weeks or so. how many of them have checked to see which area they need more workers and try to get a job. all u like to depend on gov't too much.

This is the bVI so chances are none of the camera are/were adequately working ,if at all.

A lone and unarmed employee, accompanied with his employer's bag of cash US currency after hours, making a deposit....."fo tru tru,"

Legislation couldn't have prevented this opportunistic farce.

I do agree though that efforts to keep campaign promises about gun control is
    long overdue.

Hmmmm So where were the two or three police guards who always by the door keeping the desk from falling. You mean one could not escort the individual? NOT! Someone just needed Christmas money. Well Mark call the boys, its time to get jiggy with it and pass the gun legislation. Also not because a few dollars gone our prices going up! So hold another sale and we good. Make water 1.00 a case this time so this way less money go to the deposit for them to rob.

Please explain to me how tougher gun legislation prevents robberies, especially when you have no idea who the robber is............

Well 4dots, If your behind get caught you pay a heavy price. Without it and if your behind get caught, you get a soft clap and go to anger management. Let it be a deterrent and don't think it will do the job to catch the crook. Thats the police job. So the question we should ask is are you a supporter of a foot up the A$$ or a soft clap and pay $5.00 . your call babe. I rather break my foot off in the crooks a$$ then send them to jail and pay a fine of 10 grand or more.
  • BVI Easy for Crime (25/11/2014, 10:21) Like (4) Dislike (0) Reply
BVI is apparently a place where it is very easy to commit crimes and get away with it. No friends to grass you, no family members to discourage you, tell on you; and certainly no police or other deterrents to scare you. Truly nature's little secret because everyone is good at keeping a secret. Soon these criminals will turn on the tourists. That will be the death nail to our economy. I remember the days when people only steal a fruit from your fruit tree in the yard. Can we bring back the good times? Wishful, thinking! It looks like down the hill from here. Brothers and Sisters, our lives are in our hands. All of us are at risk. Please, let each of us start taking responsibility to help each other to live by the laws of these beautiful Islands, nature's little secret. The preferred well kept 'secret'. Thanks a billion.
