Guard against divisive, vexing politics - Skelton-Cline
He reminds that ‘Faith, Family and Friends’ are what truly matters, as he cautioned his listening audience against sacrificing valuable relationships on the altar of politics.
“Whatever you do, do not allow politics to create uncomfortable and divisive conversations around the tables of faith, family and friends,” he said.
“Enjoy the company of each other. Do not sacrifice nor lose your relationships on the altar of politics. It’s not worth it. Debate and discuss if you can but be emotionally sober and if you think you can’t handle certain conversations, set those aside and discuss other topics,” the man of the cloth shared with his audience in the VI.
Wisdom-Note
He went on to share what he described as a wisdom-note from a friend, in reminder of the importance of the Christmas season as part of the bigger picture.
“There comes a point in war when a cease-fire is called. The troops take a break, they may be entertained, have a decent meal and perhaps get to see loved ones before the struggle resumes. The Christmas season reminds us that we are small cogs in the bigger wheel of humanity,” Mr Skelton-Cline uttered.
He continues by saying that while we may have what appears to be divergent interests, there is a need to fight for the common good.
Mr Skelton-Cline in sharing the note also underscored the need for togetherness, “The rebuilding must happen and for that to be successful, we must all unite in actions and oneness of spirit,” he said.
