Greenland, Shepherd Hill among areas for street lighting
This is according to 8th District Representative Hon. Marlon Penn who said that the areas identified for street lights are Greenland, Shepherd Hill and the area from the Beef Island Bridge to the Long Bay Beach junction.
“We have already met with the electricity corporation. We have already done the assessment and are now waiting on the estimates of which would then be forwarded to the Minister for Communications and Works to have those lights installed,” said Hon Penn on NDP Radio on February 6, 2012.
A caller to the programme had stated that he would like to see more street lights in the 8th District “from the Long Swamp Switching station, the Electricity station, coming up to Andy’s Car Wash and from the entrance to Little Mountain to the entrance to the beach since there are a lot of people that walk along in the morning, however, it is very dark...”
Meanwhile, regarding the sewerage situation in the District, Hon. Penn also disclosed that “we are in the process of signing contracts for the restart of phase three of the sewerage project.”
