Gov’t wants all involved in natural resources management

Dr. Kedrick Pickering, Minister for Natural Resources and Labour.
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The National Parks Trust Concert Series over the weekend attracted a number of persons at the Queen Elizabeth II Park including a number of government officials including Minister for Natural Resources and Labour Hon. Dr. Kedrick Pickering, who said Government wants all to be involved in natural resources management and maintenance.

Speaking on stage on November 27, 20ll at the final concert, Dr. Pickering spoke of the importance of the VI’s natural resources and said the move will be to have more persons involved.

“As you know our natural resources are the most important aspects of our livelihood in the Virgin Islands and the National Parks Trust has been charged with the responsibility of managing those natural resources...We want to raise the profile of the National Parks Trust to ensure that all of us are involved in managing and maintaining our natural resources,” Dr. Pickering said.

Among the other Government officials spotted at the concert over the weekend were Minister for Health and Social Development Ronnie Skelton, Minister for Communications and Works Hon. Mark Vanterpool and Minister for Education and Culture Hon. Myron Walwyn.

The Concert series ended last evening November 27, 2011with a captivating performance by 9-time Grammy Award winning artiste John Legend. Former lead singer of UB30 Ali Campbell also delivered a beautiful performance on the opening night.

The concerts were organised by the National Parks Trust (NPT), as part of its 50th Anniversary celebrations and were a mixture of local and international artistes. The NPT hopes the concert series would be an annual event. Monies raised will go towards the reconstruction of the Queen Elizabeth II Park, which was designated as a National Park in 1974 and is one of the oldest parks in the Virgin Islands.

Dr. the Hon. Kendrick Pickering does not need the assistance of Glover Park or anyone else to assist him with his speeches or presentations. The fact that you type in bold letters say a lot so your opinion really does not worth much. Get on board friend because he is the Deputy Premier whether you like it or not!
