Govt still to decide how to honour R. T. O’Neal – Premier Smith
Honourable O’Neal has bowed out of politics in the Virgin Islands (VI) and has not contested the elections of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) party in which he held the position of Chairman for years.
The two contenders were 1st district Representative Honourable Andrew A. Fahie and Third District Representative Honourable Julian Fraser, RA. Hon Fraser won the majority vote.
At a press conference held in the conference room of the Premier, reporters were told that no decision has been made as to how or when the Government will salute Hon O’Neal. “That is something that will be decided, but like I said before he did make sterling contribution,” Premier Smith told reporters.
He said that he did congratulate Hon O’Neal both via the media and personally.
Grilled on the outcome of the VIP’s elections and asked if he sees a more robust campaigning to take over the governance of the VI with Hon Fraser at the helm of the party, Premier Smith responded, “that I cannot tell you.”
It was put to the Premier that he seemed confident that neither the People’s Empowerment Party (PEP) nor the VIP can remove him from office. “What I would say to you is that when we were elected we give the people of this country a promise to work very hard towards improving the economic situation of this Territory,” said Premier Smith.
He did acknowledge however that they have been having challenges, those which he said were as a result of them going into office at a very difficult time of the recession and financial services challenges. “But we made significant progress,” he said confidently. “I think the people of this Territory do appreciate that and will continue to appreciate the work that we have been doing,” he added.
The Premier was also asked if his government is considering snap elections and he responded, “My concentration right now is on leading this country towards better conditions, providing the programmes, providing the leadership that is necessary for the continued growth of the country…. I am not focused on elections at this point.” He was confident that was the focus of his entire team.

Keep telling yourself that smithy boy. This man head is so far down in the sand he can't see pass his own glasses.
THEN WE CAN START OVER WITH REPRESENTATIVES WHO CAN LEAD AND NOT BE LED!!!
North Sound road, spanishtown jetty. I could go on an on.
He had a hand in why they are the state they are in.
College - Lavity S
Complex - Lavity S (though it's not named after him but was his idea & project)
Airport - Terrence L
Park - Noel L
Plaza - Sir Georges
SS - Joshua S
Because Lavity was the first and such a long serving Chief, he got the opportunity to develop a lot of our infrastructure. Ralph was Chief when the new airport was completed but he gave the naming honours to TB.
It is only right to name the complex after Ralph.
We give it a value of 5 USD. and people can start to purchase them and save only in the NBVI and it could only be changed in the NBVI. This is a way to start paying people and keeping the money in the territory.
With Ralph face on it we can take it straight to the bank but make sure his eyes close in the picture, LOL.
At least the cheques wouldn't bounce and we wouldn't have to be buying stocks in the stock market loosing our money and no body knows what is going on.
HMMMMMMMMMM NDP AGAIN!
