ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI—The Government of the Virgin Islands (VI) on January 2, 2025, released the 2025 schedule for testing the National Early Warning Multi-Hazard Alert System.

Residents are encouraged to download the calendar to stay informed about upcoming system tests.

The public missive said tests, which will use sirens and other components of the alert system, are scheduled to be conducted on the fourth Friday of each month.

According to the government, “These tests are intended to ensure the system's readiness and functionality.”

Review & practice emergency procedures

It was noted that while no action is required during the scheduled tests, residents are strongly advised to use these occasions to review and practice their home or business emergency procedures.

These include evacuation or shelter-in-place drills with all household or business team members, verifying that emergency supplies are adequately stocked, and testing emergency communication systems.

If assistance is required to develop a comprehensive emergency plan for a home or business or to learn more about the National Early Warning Multi-Hazard Alert System, residents can contact the Department of Disaster Management at (284) 468-4200.

    How many salaries, huge new building and we have a highlighted calendar, no doubt the whole department will receive a productivity bonus for this amazing achievement, a siren test once a month for an unspecified threat now we’re all off for a free lunch , did anyone remember to copy the weather forecast from the internet oh don’t worry we’ll publish that tomorrow once we’ve checked it was what they expected.
