Gov't official’s vehicle involved in accident; reporter threatened
When this news site arrived on the scene, there were no Police Officers directing traffic or no attempt being made to place marks on the road and remove the two vehicles.
This news site, in the execution of its duties to report the news, attempted to glean more information with regards to how the accident occurred when one of the persons involved in the accident demanded that we cease taking photographs of the accident scene.
Undeterred by this threat, the reporter continued to carry out his duties when he was approached by the person.
The businessman, known to be the owner of a construction and heavy equipment company, then snatched the device being used to take photographs from the hands of the reporter, making the remark “You in East End now. I gon take this phone.”
Another person who was on the scene also spoke disapprovingly of this news site's reporter taking photographs, saying neither did he want his vehicle photographed nor see any articles about his vehicle in the accident.
This person was identified as a senior government official in the Office of the Premier of the Virgin Islands.
