'Governor is above the law; ignores discrimination!' - Edmund G. Maduro
"Already we are being discriminated against simply because of the colour of our skin in spite of the fact that our Constitution prohibits this kind of behaviour, the Governor allows it to take place yet he is telling you that I am talking nonsense," said Maduro on his EGM Show last evening Thursday March 17, 2016 on ZROD 103.7 FM.
"He is above the law because he is supposed to stop this ugly behaviour and he is not stopping it. Everyone in the Government knows that our boat captains are being discriminated against because of the colour of their skin...the Governor is fully aware of this, the Labour Department is fully aware of this, the Minister for Labour is fully aware of this and surely the Premier must also know the facts," he said.
Maduro said the Governor cannot deny this "because under the Constitution he has full executive powers to run the territory and enforce all rules and laws laid down in the Constitution and other laws."
The Governor in an interview with this news site last week said Maduro's interpretation of the Constitution is not accurate and that he was not above the law as Governor. He said too that he thought bloggers are more accurate than some of the talk show commentators.
Did Governor manipulate NHI petition?
Mr Maduro said that the NHI Concerned Citizens and Residents Group sent a letter accompanying their petition against the National Health Insurance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. But instead of allowing the letter to go to Her Majesty the Governor insisted that it goes through the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
"If the people of this territory write something to Her Majesty the Queen should it not go there?" he asked.
Maduro is also insisting that the press is out to destroy him by referring to him as 'controversial'. He said that it is the Governor who ought to be referred to as controversial for refusing to carry out the tenets of the Constitution and the will of the people.

If he's white - he's racist.
If he's black - he's not from here.
If he's from here - he's for this side/that side.
If he gets involved in local issues - that's not his role, we want independence.
If he opts for minimal involvement - he's on holiday.
etc. etc.
There can be no exception...
For everyone involved they can either shape up or ship out...
