Governor announces criminal probes into Premier’s Office, HM Customs
The Governor’s announcement of the move came today, May 12, 2022, where he added, “when I published the Commission of Inquiry report on 29 April, I believe it is a vital and hugely valuable contribution towards the achievement of better governance for the people of the BVI.”
According to Governor Rankin, there is now an urgent need to decisively move forward. This he said is in line with his responsibilities under the Constitution. The Governor added that the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) Commissioner of Police, Mark Collins, will now undertake a number of criminal investigations as recommended in the CoI Report.
In addition to an investigation into the conduct of the Premier’s Office, there will also be a criminal investigation and/or investigations into the recovery of the public money expended on the Sea Cow Bay Harbour Development Project and the Virgin Islands Neighbourhood Partnership Project.
Recovery of Public Money
He added that a criminal investigation and/or investigations will also be undertaken into the recovery of the public money expended in the disposal of Parcel 310 of Block 2938B, Road Town Registration Section.
Finally, he said an investigation into possible corruption within HM Customs will be undertaken.
With regard to Recommendation B21, criminal investigations are already underway in relation to the Elmore Stoutt High School Perimeter Wall Project and the BVI Airways project.
Governor Rankin said given the need to respect the integrity of the investigative process, he will not be making media comments on the content of the investigations as they take place.
“But I am determined that investigations should be held in line with the Commission of Inquiry Report and that any public official who has engaged in criminal wrong-doing should be brought to justice and held accountable under the law,” he said.

Hello!!!!
if you do the crime then do the time
Some of we getting shake down by NHI; Social Security and Inland Revenue while some of we miss use the people tax money and walking free
The commission of police must also investigate his department as well because persons within the commissioner department assist with moving dope in the territory: under the commissioner, police keeps evidence for their personal use.
If you intend to conduct investigations in this British overseas territory-why not ask questions as to where some the foreign investors get the money(money laundering remains a crime) it should and have to be justice not just us
Greenhouses, beaches, the list could on !
