‘Goodbye to buffering’- Digicel GM Kevin R. Gordon

The telecommunications company launched its LTE network on Monday, January 16, 2017, marking the first phase of the company’s investment in its LTE infrastructure and will include the expansion of Digicel’s network with 14 new sites.
“It means that experience on Netflix will be better with no more buffering, Mr Gordon said, noting that Digicel has received “some great feedback” from their testers.
According to Digicel, the activation of the LTE network is another significant investment by Digicel designed to equip the VI with the most modern world-class communications and entertainment infrastructure and service.
Leaving no stone unturned
So far, according to Mr Gordon, Digicel is delivering 74% coverage on Tortola and 84% coverage on Virgin Gorda. “And at the end of February we are planning to cover everywhere. And as I have said on numerous occasions we want to ensure that everyone gets covered, everyone gets connected.
The new GM told the media at the launch that sites are being added on a weekly basis to ensure that coverage and capacity are maximised.
“We don’t need as much sites to cover the entire island but what we are ensuring on our network is that we have coverage on every single site. We are leaving no stone unturned.”
Offers/Money back guarantee
Digicel, in a subsequent press release, said its stores on Tortola and Virgin Gorda are now offering LTE-capable devices. “As part of our LTE roll-out, we are pleased to announce our first ever Digicel home solution which offers lightning-fast internet with affordable packages starting from as low as $79 per month. As an introductory offer, all LTE Home Plan customers will receive a free LTE router, while customers who sign up for our 200GB or Unlimited Plan options will get half off the first two months subscription.”
Digicel Mobile prepaid and postpaid customers can enjoy LTE lightning-fast speeds at no extra charge.
“To back the confidence we have in our new network we are offering a seven-day money back guarantee to any customer who is not satisfied with our LTE service,” declared Mr Gordon.
The press release added that the network officially got the thumbs up from Digicel’ s Chief Speed Officer, Usain St Leo Bolt, after successful speed testing the network and Digicel customers now have the opportunity to experience the territory’s fastest LTE network.
“BVI fastest network just got faster, and we are rapidly increasing the number of Digicel customers experiencing the service, and are committed to updating everyone as we deliver coverage throughout the territory,” Mr Gordon added.
