Goals galore in latest National League action
Wolues kept up with the pace though with a 6-0 rout of Panthers FC, whilst Islanders FC announced they cannot be ruled out just yet with a 10-1 victory against Positive FC and One Love reignited their season with an 8-1 win against Old Madrid FC.
VG United led 1-0 @ halftime!
VG Utd have dropped just one point all season and recorded their seventh win of the campaign courtesy of goals from Jaadon Quashie (2), Deshawn Richardson (2), T’Khoi Richardson, Devante Samuel, Thomas Albert, and Mikel Morain.
“It was a good win against a good side and only 1-0 at the break,” commented VG United Manager, Jermain Abrams.
“We made some adjustments for the second half, and it really opened up the game. Despite the score line it was a well contested game, but our boys are having real fun, everybody wants us now and it’s like VG against the world, but we are having real fun with that. Coach Morton and Bascome along with the rest of the back-room staff have done an excellent job in getting the players enjoying their game and showing the right mental toughness to overcome what’s in front of them.”
Johari Lacey hits hat-trick
One Love FC were comfortable winners too, as a Johari Lacey hattrick and further goals from Zeron Samuel, Shyane Prince (2) and Latriel Williams (2) secured a comfortable victory, although the defense were left to rue a late consolation goal conceded to Chevon Russel of Old Madrid.
“Our first game of the year was an opportunity to start 2024 on the right foot and we did that with a resounding victory,” noted Manager Javon Carty.
“We have signed some players and had a little more depth in the squad which showed in the way we were able to keep the ball. Overall, it was a really good game and showed us that we can move forward and have a serious impact on the league.”
Wolues maul Panthers
Wolues are in second place, having been top over Christmas and kept themselves in the hunt with a 6-0 defeat of Panthers FC as Hugo Liziario continued scoring goals for fun to be the leagues top scorer. His brace giving him thirteen for the season. Marcus Robinson also scored twice, and both Oliver Henderson and Colm Edwards also found the back of the net.
“It was a comfortable win that was not in much doubt throughout,” stated Phil Nelson. “We moved the ball around well during the game and made it difficult for them to get into any rhythm. After a prolonged break it was nice to get back onto the park and hopefully, we will maintain our good run into the next game.”
Islanders hammer Positive 10-1
The third placed Islanders recorded the biggest win of the year so far as they put ten past Positive, as both Collin Lavia and Oswort Holder scored hat tricks. The rest of the goals came from Antonio Rodney, Carlos Septus and Sheldon Harry Junior as well as an own goal.
Delshawn Daley scored for Positive.
