'Go after the man next time!' – Magistrate tells Eleanor King
Eleanor King pleaded not guilty after being charged with Common Assault when she appeared before the Magistrate’s Court today, May 30, 2014. She was unrepresented at the time.
According to the allegations King went to the home of her boyfriend in Huntums Ghut at 2AM on February 15, 2014 where she met him and the Virtual Complainant (VC) asleep together in bed. The man shares a child with the VC who is his ex-girlfriend.
She approached the bed and became enraged after which she allegedly dealt the VC several blows to the right side of her face as she lay in bed. The man then awoke and subsequently led the defendant out of the bedroom. The defendant left the residence shortly after.
The VC then made a report at the Road Town Police Station shortly after the incident where it was observed that there was some amount of swelling to her face.
She was issued a medical form and treated by a doctor at the Peebles Hospital for abrasions to her left forearm and swelling below her left eye and small haemorrhage to her right hand side.
The defendant was spoken to in at the Road Town Police Station where she stated that she assaulted the VC because the VC assaulted her first.
On February 26, the VC made certain indications to officers and a charge of Common Assault was made against King.
She will next make an appearance on September 4, 2014 before the court for the continuation of her matter.
