Glen Washington injects life & love into BVI Music Fest day 2
The artiste gave his heart and soul to a masterful performance that had patrons calling for more even after 3 A.M. on the second night, May 25, 2013 of the BVI Music Fest 2013 at Cane Garden Bay beach.
Washington came on stage after what could have been considered a lull and even though it started to rain heavily during his entrance, his unique and captivating voice made some patrons stand their ground to absorb his soothing music.
He chose to start his performance with Blessings of Jah and then went straight to singing his reggae love songs with some of his hits such as Strangers in the Night, Should be Together and My Love Belongs To You.
Patrons particularly enjoyed songs such as My Number One Girl, Kindness for Weakness and Don’t Say You Love Me and they made good the opportunity to hold on to their companion while those without just danced quite contentedly.
Washington came on stage sometime around 2:15 A.M. and departed around 3:23 A.M. However, due to popular requests and fans still thirsty for more, he returned to please the crowd some more and even did quite masterfully songs by Beres Hammond and Taurus Riley. He ended his performance with She’s Royal, a song by Taurus Riley.
Earlier, there were performances by Jamaicans Da’Ville, and Assassin aka Agent Sasko who did a fine job of hyping the crowd during his brief performance. Da’Ville particularly sang for the ladies as he is known for and had the crowd responding with his hit songs that included Missing You, This Time I Promise, In Heaven and Can’t Get Over You.
Two lucky female patrons also got the opportunity to join Da’Ville on stage and did not hesitate to hold on tightly to the artiste as he belted out some of his very emotional love songs.
The show opened with the Virgin Islands very own Bumpy B Breezy and he was followed by another Virgin Islander- Aaron Da Jedi.
Other local acts included Monea, Macakabee and Ritical, who performed prior to Glen Washington’s act.
Ritical’s songs included Wish You the Best and Crabs in a Bucket. Sad to say it didn’t seem like the artiste and the band were in sync, which took away some of the hype from his performance.
The curtain comes down on Music Fest 2013 tonight, which has been dubbed Salsa Sunday and will feature Latin DJs and MCs. Artistes on tonight will be Blue Essence, B’more, Jalena, HeatWave, Gramps Morgan and Shai.
The opening night on Friday May 24, 2013 saw performances from Razor Blades, Xtreme Band, King Short Shirt, Baron, Volume International and Claudette Peters.
