KINGSTON, Jamaica- Former Director of Public Prosecutions in the Virgin Islands (VI), Terrence F. Williams, has been appointed to the rank of King’s Counsel.

On Friday, October 11, 2024, the ceremony for Williams who is the former head of the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM), took place at the inner bar in the Supreme Court building in Kingston, Jamaica, which was presided over by Supreme Court Justice Leighton Pusey.

Williams is defense lawyer for high-profile cases

Mr. Williams through Chase Law in the VI has been retained by many prominent Virgin Islanders to defend them against UK inspired and led bogus charges.

Mr. Williams is defending Member for the Sixth District Hon Myron V. Walwyn, Former Government Consultant Claude O. Skelton-Cline, former Permanent Secretary Carolyn O’Neal-Morton (not arrested or charged), former Speaker of the House Julian Willock and Comptroller of Customs Wade N. Smith, among many others.

It is widely believed that these are among the many persons who have been targeted by the UK to damage their reputation and good names in charges that is likely to go nowhere.

Mr. Williams is also the defense lawyer for some members of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) who have brought cases against the Police Commissioner and the Governor.

King’s Counsel appointment 'well-deserved'- CCJ President

President of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ), Adrian Saunders said Williams’ elevation of Williams to King’s Counsel was “extremely well deserved” and “overdue”.

Meanwhile, Williams paid special tribute to his mother, who was an educator, for her role in shaping who he is today.

He also acknowledged the role his family and colleagues played in his development as an attorney.

Williams is the current head of Public Law Chambers, a firm of attorneys pursuing human rights cases in Jamaica and across the Caribbean.

The best to do the job of DPP in the VI but when you are an EXPAT they just use and abuse you. BUT they always forget when one door closes many more will open. If he was still here alot of cases would have been dealt with. People who are hurt have no faith in the justice system anymore. Congrats KC Williams.
