Former First Lady Hilda E. Stoutt passes
Mrs Stoutt died yesterday morning, Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital.
She was 84 years of age, having been born on May 12, 1937.
Mrs Stoutt, a mother, great aunt, and grandmother, is best known for being a family person, a businesswoman, and a homemaker. She had passed on many skills to her surviving children.
As First Lady, Mrs Stoutt was at the late H. Lavity Stoutt's side for his entire political career. The late Chief Minister served as the Territory’s Head of Government for over sixteen years and is credited with establishing the cruise ship pier, creating the Social Security Scheme, overseeing the construction of the Central Administration Complex and spearheading the development of the local community college, which is named in his honour.
The Board of Directors of Virgin Islands News Online conveys condolences to the immediate family and other loved ones of Mrs Hilda E. Stoutt.
