ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Representative for the Third District Honourable Julian Fraser RA has expressed strong concern today March 12, 2015 in the House of Assembly that the Minutes from the previous sitting on February 17, 2015 were not yet ready.

Speaking at the beginning of the Fourth Sitting of the Fourth Session of the Second House of Assembly, Speaker Ingrid A. Moses reported that the Minutes from the last sitting would be provided at the next sitting.

"Honourable members unfortunately we won't have the Minutes confirmed at today's sitting. It will be deferred until the next sitting of the House of Assembly," she said.

However, in response, Honourable Fraser said this is not the first time they have come to the House only to hear that the Minutes from the previous sitting are not ready. "I am of the view that it has probably to do with the resources available," he said.

"I want to make an appeal that those resources should be made available in order to get the Minutes. Because it impacts on our preparation for the sitting. We come here to do the people's business and the Government comes to do the Government's business," he said.

"We cannot work without those Minutes Madam Speaker. It impacts upon us in a way that continues to be negative and we need to find a way to fix that at whatever cost," said Honourable Fraser.

Minutes not verbatim. Minutes should be ready the day after the meeting. I worked for legco and I use to have those minutes ready the next day. This is the height of sloppiness on the clerk and deputy clerk not the speaker

I totally agree with you. Sometimes i had to work very late to ensure those minutes meet the agenda for the next Sitting. Total lack and regards for duties is what.seems to be the issue.

Absolute nonsense. Never heard of this level of incompetence in all these years. If it is not incompetence then it sure is wilfullness.

This is a supervisor issue. The office supervisor/manager is responsible for getting these minutes ready for the follow up meeting. This is not a joke, the minutes should have been ready and ready days before for members to perused.---They had ample time to prepare the minutes.

In the days of less technology, people like Mrs. Borde and others use to be on the ball. They would be ashamed of learning of this sort of lawlessness which seem to be fine with the current speaker. It is sloppiness and making the HOA look like a ghetto.

What can we do to get rid of that Bias Speaker? That might help us to get the minutes on time.

Pass a bill requiring the Hansard report made public 14 days after the sitting of the legislature so we the citizens can read verbatim who said what and when.
