ST JOHN, Antigua & Barbuda - 4 unlicensed fishermen had been fined in Barbuda after they had been discovered with a hefty catch of Parrotfish.

Based on Antigua’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Barbuda Affairs, the fishermen docked into the river touchdown website on an unregistered Boston whaler on February 4. Fisheries officers had been on website after they referred to as the police for help when the fishermen refused to conform. 

They had been then transported to the Barbuda police station the place 334 Parrotfish had been taken from their ice coolers. 

The fishermen had been fined and the fishing vessel was seized for additional investigation. The fish was distributed to the Barbuda group because the fishing of the Parrotfish is totally banned in Barbuda. 

Laws violated 

Based on The Barbuda Fisheries Laws – an individual shall not fish or try to fish in Barbuda with out having with them a legitimate Barbuda particular space allow issued by the officer, besides that an individual who’s below the age of 16 could interact in leisure fishing without such a allow, offered that she or he complies with all nationwide and native laws.  

An individual shall not take, try to take, possess, place on the market, buy, or have in his or her possession any fish type which incorporates the Parrotfish.

    I am glad there is such a diligent patrol and enforcement to protect the marine wild life
