First Tropical Storm formed in the Atlantic

Alberto is located about 120 miles Southeast of South Carolina, has a 50 percent of becoming a hurricane during the next 48 hours
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- TS Alberto is located about 120 miles Southeast of South Carolina. Alberto has begun to acquire more tropical characteristics as showers and thunderstorms have increased near the circulation center and will continue to move slowly Southward or Westward over the next day or so. This system has a 50 percent of becoming a hurricane during the next 48 hours.

Meanwhile, in our region, a broad area of high pressure will dominate the conditions over the central and western Atlantic through to the middle of next week. It will support a relatively stable atmosphere across the northeast Caribbean. A fresh to moderate trade wind will transport a few shallow showers over the region.

Tonight: A few cloudy spells with scattered showers.

Tomorrow: Partly cloudy with isolated brief showers.

Winds: East Southeast 10 - 14 Kts tonight, increasing to 12 - 17 Kts tomorrow. Reaching 16 -24 Kts over coastal waters..

Seas: Moderate Swells 5 - 6 FT or 1.5 - 1.8 M.
