Finally! Repairs commence on Great Mountain Road
Hon Rymer in a facebook post today said, "The road remains open to vehicular traffic while work continues in the area. This section of the road has for years been exposed to run-off water which has been constantly undermining the surface, thereby damaging the pavement and posing a threat to drivers."
Drainage works being tackled
The Minister noted that the works being conducted will also improve the drainage in the area and this is expected to bring an end to the persistent problem of water damage.
"As a Government, we want to ensure this and all the roads in the BVI are motorist and pedestrian-friendly and safe. When these repairs are done, we will have a smoother driving surface which will prevent damage to vehicles," he said.
When repairs are completed, the Minister noted the roadway is expected to be safer for drivers and pedestrians in addition to the strengthening of its structural integrity which means the road should last longer.
"I am urging road users to exercise heightened caution, especially when using the road at night," Hon Rymer implored.
