USVI: Ex CAHS coach sentenced to 35 years on child sexual exploitation

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St. Thomas, USVI — United States Attorney Delia L. Smith announced that Chief Judge Robert A. Molloy sentenced Alfredo Bruce Smith, 53, of St Thomas, to 35 years in prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release. Upon release from prison, Smith must register as a sex offender.

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St Thomas, USVI- A federal jury on Friday, April 22, 2022, returned guilty verdicts on all six counts of child sexual abuse and child pornography production charges against St Thomas, US Virgin Islands (USVI) boxer John A. Jackson, who in February 2019 was arrested by federal authorities. As a result of the verdict, Jackson faces 15 years to life in prison.

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Data in the Virgin Islands suggests that while reports of child abuse are decreasing within the Territory, incidents of child sexual abuse appear to be on the increase. This is according to Stacie T. Stoutt-James, a Senior Social Worker in the Social Development Department.
