India fears new COVID wave as Omicron infections spread

NEW DELHI, India - The Omicron variant of the coronavirus is raising fears of a third wave of the pandemic in India. The country on Wednesday reported a total of nearly 800 Omicron cases, while COVID-19 infections rose by 9,195 new daily cases – a 44 percent spike from the previous day.

Delta Plus COVID variant identified in VI
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Acting Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dr Roland E. Georges on December 24, 2021, announced that of a batch of 24 COVID-19 samples sent to the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) for genetic typing, one of the samples was identified as the Delta Plus variant.
