North Carolina's governor has declared a state of emergency in the city of Charlotte, after violence erupted during a second night of protests over the police killing of a black man.

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St Thomas, USVI— A 24-year-old man who pleaded guilty to a murder on St Thomas, US Virgin Islands (USVI) in October 2015, was sentenced on Monday September 19, 2016 to 20 years in prison by Superior Court Judge Michael C. Dunston, the local Department of Justice has announced.
