ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Ministry of Education and Culture along with the Education Week 2012 Steering Committee hosted a Musical production entitled, “Fight for the Seed” to launch Education Week 2012 on Sunday, March 11 at the Eileene L. Parsons Auditorium.

The musical focused on at risk males and saw both primary and high school males delivering a marvellous presentation of music, skit and dance.

“Fight for the Seed” focused on the challenges of young males to drugs, sex and crime and highlighted their attempts to get away from that lifestyle and how a changed family structure contributed to the boys’ initial choice. It ended with Education as the key to pulling the males towards a positive lifestyle.

Assistant Principal of the Althea Scatliffe Primary School and Coordinator of the Education Week 2012 Musical Mrs. Orlandette Crabbe had said in a press release that close to 60 males will be involved in the production that was written by Local Playwright and Theatrical Arts Teacher at the Elmore Stoutt High School Mrs. Janice George Harris.

The Musical, “Fight for the Seed” opened Education Week 2012, which is being celebrated in the Territory from March 11 – 17 under the theme, Creating A Culture of Excellence Through Prevention and Intervention.”

I am glad that my son got the opportunity to be apart of this. He seems happy and had fun with the dancing. I feel that he will learn something from this. "As brothers we stand hand in hand proving what it takes to be a real man. I will not bend I will not bow against drugs, sex and crime I step out now. renewed my mind, renewed my fatih my education now is ultimate". This is a good message for a young man to follow.

its always good to try and save our young men. But part of that is charging the stereo type that boys must go into mechanic, construction, plumbing etc and girl must be teachers, secretary and the like. We need a gender natural BVI in terms of career.
