Fifteen graduate from Farmers on the Move Agricultural Course
The short course in Agriculture, was headed by Khoy Smith, and explored basic skills in the areas of poultry, crop and fishing.
Smith said he thought the programme was a success and it showed that while some may say that persons do not want to get involved locally in farming, this proves the opposite. "I think that that is just a myth, persons do want to get involved... what they perhaps need is some encouragement or a boost," he said.
He added that "it was only a matter of creating the environment for persons to feel stimulated."
Speaking with a participant of the course, Assim Anthony, this news site was told that the course was a good learning experience to finalise the basics in agriculture.
The graduantnoted that it would help to be able to implement these teachings in everyday living and keep the guys from remaining idle and just sitting with nothing to do. "I wish we could have more seminars such as this," he added.
Premier, Dr. Hon. Orlando Smith was on hand to give a word of encouragement to the students who participated in the course.
Khoy Smith also stated that Farmers on the move will now be taking the approach of appealing to the government for property for the participants to implement the teachings that they have learnt.
